Halloween Inspiration - Lady Jack Skellington

Monday, October 26, 2015

Hey loves! This past weekend Ben and I threw a Halloween party! It was such a success and we had an amazing time! From the get-go Ben and I wanted to go all out for our party. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of our favorites as well as Jack Skellington himself. So, our hearts were set on becoming "The Skellington's," for the evening. I immediately jumped on YouTube and started looking up tutorials like crazy! (I will link them below)

For my look, I purchased white & black cream make-up from party city. I applied the cream make-up with a foundation brush and used flat angle brushes for detail. It worked for the evening but, next time I am definitely going to invest in some quality make-up like Snazaroo and the Makeup Forever Flash Palette. I bought some lashes from Walmart for one time use. I have naturally long lashes, so I really don't wear fake lashes. I used a TooFaced palette for shadows and created a smoky look. I used the black shadow in this palette to detail and create shadows within the look. Then I used this setting spray from party city. Setting spray helps keep the product in place.

Ben's look was a lot more intense than mine. We needed a bald cap, spirit gum, liquid latex as well as black and white body paint. Together, it took about 5 hours to get us ready. Ben's look required a few layers and in-between his layers drying, I would get myself ready. Overall, I am so proud of myself for how our looks turned out. We were a huge hit at the party and had so much together getting ready. I highly recommend this look if your attending a party! You will get many compliments!

Here are the YouTube tutorials I used for our costumes:

Thank you so much for stopping by!

My Favorite Plaid Top + Elongating Your Legs

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

Plaid Top || Faux Fur Vest || Dark Denim || Booties || Necklace || Watch

Hello loves and happy Wednesday!
We are finally having some sunshine here in Charlotte and it has made all the difference in my mood! Today, I am sharing my favorite plaid top and giving you a few pointers on how to make your legs look a bit longer!

I purchased this plaid top from Shop Hope's a month or so ago. I knew it was going to be perfect for the fall season. I am a sucker for anything plaid during the cooler months but what really sold me was the lace hem. It gives the plaid such a feminine, girly feel and I fell in love immediatley. The top is a bit longer as well; which makes it perfect to wear with leggings and a cardigan for a more comfortable look! This top is sold-out form Hope's, but I have found the exact top here!

Now, here a few small tips on elongating your legs. Try styling a more monochromatic look, so your shoe color matches the color of your pants! This creates one clean line. Also, wearing black can naturally make you look thinner and any kind of heel to add an inch or so can really help!

-P.S. Who is excited for American Horror Story Hotel tonight? AHS is seriously one of my absolute favorite shows! I have always loved scary movies and things. So it is not a surprise that I love this show so much! I cannot wait to see what they do with the theme this year! Do you watch AHS?! If so, how excited are you?!
